Remember that you are confined to 500 words - use them prudently!
- Stand back and try to see your club as an outsider looking in.
- List your strengths and weaknesses as best you can.
- Are you urban or rural?
- New and trying to make a breakthrough at underage level?
- Established and improving annually by hard work?
- Established and plodding along middle of the road? Momentum gathering?
- Established and living on former glories? Prepared to have a go again?
- Successes?
- How many teams do you field and have you a setup that ensures that all teams are catered for as they should be?
- Does your club help the training in your local primary and secondary schools to ensure the long-term existence and success of your club?
- Do you have a solid underage structure in place?
- Are the parents and senior players involved or is it left to the few?
- Is your club involved in your community?
- Does it try to help local enterprise, voluntary groups, charities and is it seen to have a presence?
- Do members undertake or support bigger charity projects on a worldwide basis?
- Do members undertake in coaching in yours and other clubs?
- How do you fund raise? Is your lotto enough or do you have to have other projects?
- Are they successful or left to the few?
- Do you give something back? Like helping a major local project once a year?
- Do you support the other clubs in your area?
- Do you take your part in local events?
- Are you helping your county?
- Are you helping the GAA in general?
- Do you have a national profile club officer or player?
- Do you have your own website?
Remember, your successes on the field shouldn't be the only part of your submission.
Write down everything and try and put it together. You will probably find you are way over the word count. You have to start summarising, getting rid of the least important bits until you have whittled it down to the final submission.
Good Luck.
